(I'm presuming if you're reading this you know what Hollywood Squares is, but just in case... The Hollywood Squares game show is basically Tic-Tac-Toe. Contestants pick one of nine celebrities, each representing a "square" of a tic-tac-toe board, who is asked a question. The celebrity either answers truthfully or "bluffs," purposefully telling a lie to throw the contestant off.)

I'm always surprised when people think the Hollywood Squares celebrities are smart for being able to answer the questions. People, allow me to let you in on a little secret: the celebrities are given the answers. If you'll notice, they look down after being asked a question. Some are subtle about it, some blatant. They are all reading the answer.

Not only are they given the answers, they're given humorous lines to respond with. (Didn't you ever wonder why a game show employed comedy writers? Bruce Vilanch wasn't there just to look pretty.) You didn't think the celebs were that unfunny on their own, did you? No, it takes a whole room full of people to make Dick Van Patten that inane.

I think it's shown briefly (and when I say brief, I mean blink and you'll miss it) once the show is over. It's written where the rules are.

However, it is deceiving and sneaky they do that.
