The random thoughts of a genius...er...gene nash.
it's my time

[Ironically, I wrote this before my current problems began....]

This is a "what have you done for me lately" world. It doesn't matter what you did yesterday, let alone 10 years ago. All people care about is what you are up to right this second and where you are going tomorrow. All they believe is what they see directly in front of them.

Every once in a while you have to prove you've still got it. You've got to show you can do what you claim. You have to remind people you exist.

Every once in a while you need to "renew your credentials."

Did you know a person can go from has been to never was? Just add time. People have very short memories. Given enough time it's like the person never did anything. I've been too long out of the game. I still get recognized once or twice a year, but I drifted through has been territory years ago.

I need to renew my credentials.

I need to see all the areas I want to revive or still be relevant in and do something significant and public in each one.

It's time to renew my credentials.

It's definately an all about "ME" world Gene. And you're right, people have very short memory. It's a matter of always having to prove yourself and no matter how good you are or were, you're only as good as the next great thing you do. At least in some places. Not a win-win situation.

Good luck on "renewing your credentials"!

You sure are right gene. People are ONLY about themselves. No one gives half a shit about anybody else. "Whats in it for me?" is what it is all about. The only way to beat it is to be that way. Sorry to say it but it is true. Try being homeless, then you will really feel it.
