a sad and tragic story :(
While browsing BlogExplosion earlier, I happened upon this sad story in Scott-O-Rama's blog.
On May 12th, a young man in New York City answered the door to find his sister's ex-boyfriend.
Sek Man "Simon" Ng began his blog entry, "Today I missed my Japanese class again, since I have gotten a bad throat," never suspecting it would be the last thing he would ever write.
Hours later, police would find Simon brutally murdered and his sister, Sharon, clinging to life. Shortly thereafter, she too died.
Police had to look no further than Simon's last blog entry to find the killer: Sharon's ex-boyfriend, Jin Lin.
"Anyway today has been weird," wrote Simon, "at 3 some guy ringed the bell. I went down and recognized it was my sister's former boyfriend. He told me he wants to get his fishing poles back. I told him to wait downstair while I get them for him."
While upstairs, Simon paused to blog. Downstairs, Lin decided he didn't like waiting.
"While I was searching them, he is already in the house. He is still here right now, smoking, walking all around the house with his shoes on which btw I just washed the floor 2 days ago!"
Lin wanted to return to China. Rather than work for his plane ticket, he thought it would be easier to rob his old girlfriend. After fruitlessly searching her room for money, Lin attacked Simon, tying him to a chair and repeatedly stabbing him in the chest with a butcher knife.
When Sharon came home later that night, Lin also attacked her, stabbing her numerous times in the neck. Just minutes later, her current boyfriend called. She lived long enough to ask him for help. Within the hour, she too was dead.
Jin Lin must have thought he'd gotten away with it. He even had an alibi he gladly used when police came to question him at his house. That all changed when they confronted him with Simon's final blog entry. He quickly confessed.
Simon Ng's blog had fingered his killer, giving him and his sister some small hope for justice.
"Hopefully he will leave soon," concludes Simon's final blog entry. "oh yeah working on the jap report as we speak!"
