The random thoughts of a genius...er...gene nash.
...and that's when i lost it

A little something I heard on the news last night...

Perhaps you know that when a plane ran off the end of a runway in Chicago last week it plowed into a passing car, killing a six year old boy. Just moments before, he, his parents, and two younger brothers had been driving to visit his grandparents, singing Christmas carols as they went.

The Woods family buried their oldest child, Joshua, yesterday. In his hand he held a cross and a quarter.

The quarter had been pressed into Joshua's palm by his four year old brother, Jacob. He wanted to make sure his brother had money so he could buy a gumball when he got to heaven.

...and that's when I lost it. I don't really have anything to say here other than if that doesn't break your heart, you don't have a heart to break.

Did you catch the story about the man who caught the baby?  Maybe the media thinks touching and endearing stories this time of year are not bad after all.

Thanks for sharing this one.  I had not seen it.

I'm glad that worked out okay, but ...wow... just too risky.

It reminds me of an old joke with almost exactly the same circumstances, but instead of an amateur baseball player, the catcher is various actual pro-football players. (I remember hearing it as Rosie Greer.) He catches the baby, everyone cheers, then he forgets where he is, spikes the baby into the ground and does a victory dance.

Sorry. I have an old joke for everything....

You're welcome.

I remember that joke as well.  But during this season, I think the acts mean more.
