My bathroom doesn't have a lock. So when I'm in there, I place a jug of bleach against the door, lest the cat come nudging in for a look around. Today, as I reached down to move the bleach bottle, a slight scent entered my nostrils that instantly reminded me of Florida. Suddenly the warmth of the day and the sun streaming in took on new life. St. Augustine, Florida is "the oldest, continuously occupied settlement of European origin in North America." When I used my trusty Microsoft Bookshelf to verify I'd spelled St. Augustine correctly in my last article, it spit out this tidbit -- Human Rights and Social Justice, 1581 Spain's Philip II sends some of his black slaves to his Florida colony of St. Augustine.
