I finally figured out those commercials that feature "Ted Ferguson: Bud Light Daredevil," a 20-something young man decked out in skating pads, oversized goggles, and a helmet, who attempts to do such impossible feats as listen to his girlfriend talk, stay after work for five minutes ("On a Friday!"), and try to actually watch a couple minutes of a movie his girlfriend selected, only to be saved after a few minutes by a crew rushing in to pour Bud Light into his strained system. Obviously t...

Las Vegas television is obsessed with Siegfried and Roy. More than 2 years after their show closed because the tiger named Montecore gored Roy, we're treated to weekly updates on the former magicians. Sometimes it seems like they do a Breaking News alert every time Roy leaves the mansion. It's driving me crazy. I don't care! Leave me alone! No-one but Siegfried cares about Roy and we're not to sure about his commitment, publicity machine not withstanding. (Weren't these two rumored to be...

George Takei, known around the world as Star Trek 's Mr. Sulu, has come out of the closet. He's always seemed a bit prissy to me -- especially when talking about William Shatner -- but gay? He told The Associated Press that playing the role of the psychiatrist in Equus inspired his going public. He attributes it to the nature of the character, but I don't know... I remember back in college, when a couple of my fellow students were paired in a scene from Equus. The psychiatrist wa...

I have a confession... I think Susan Sarandon is hot. I've had a thing for her since Burt Lancaster got caught like a deer in her headlights in Atlantic City. I know it is popular around here to call her ugly and say that no-one but Tim Robbins would want to touch her and the only reason he will is because she is the only one who will have anything to do with his pathetic self (all things I've actually seen written here), but I think y'all are letting political inclinations (yours...

Pillsbury has new commercials featuring their longtime spokescreature Poppin' Fresh, the Pillsbury Doughboy, dancing with their products as popular tunes from the past play. One of the songs is John Paul Young's "Love is in the Air." It sounds like the version from the Strictly Ballroom soundtrack. Great movie, great song. I love both. I'm prone to putting my MP3 on loop and letting it play for an hour. But my MP3's on the other computer -- the one with the burned out power supply -...

(Since I seem to have nothing else to write about...) "Something magnificent has happened to me and something extraordinary, and I'm so happy I just can't restrain myself," said Tom Cruise. The BBC is reporting that Tom Cruise took Katie Holmes to the Eiffel Tower and proposed to her. Katie is accompanying Tom on his French War of the Worlds junket, her hand sporting "a large" diamond ring. "Today is a magnificent day for me," Tom told reporters. "I'm engaged to a magnificent wo...

Some of you may recall the article I posted a while back about a web movie claiming to prove the existence of ghosts. Well, when the following email arrived yesterday, I just had to check it out: Hi, Gene Nash, Frank Bauer here... you have to check this out. Make sure your sound is turned up a bit... it's kinda hard to hear! Strange but interesting. This is a car advertisement from Great Britain. When they finished filming the ad, the film editor noticed something ...

Renee Zellweger and I were on the same back-lot at the same time once. That's as close as I ever got. Still, you can't blame a guy for dreaming, can you? Well, my dreams are shattered, my heart is broken, and those who think I take to blondes like Sean Penn to a comedy club are saying, "Give me a break." Renee married Country singer Kenny Chesney yesterday. I guess it's fitting. Her "You had me at hello" line from the film Jerry Maguire inspired one of his biggest hits, a song by the s...

The "Carson& Barnes Circus" was supposed to be in town today over at the Avi Casino . I've known aboutit for a couple of weeks. There were several articles and lots ofadvertising. My mother -- a.k.a. Pudgy -- wanted to go for herbirthday. We usually go somewhere for her birthday. One year we spentan entire month driving around the southern U.S. from the Pacific tothe Atlantic. This year we held off a week to wait for the circus. Itfelt weird not doing anything o...
